Underground Chicago Walking Tour
Tour Downtown Chicago's underground Pedway system and visit many of its attractions without going outside. What better way to avoid Chicago's notorious winter weather than an indoor tour that covers more than 20 blocks of the City's best attractions.
We will start out at the James R. Thompson Center a postmodern civic marvel designed by Helmut Jahn. Then, we will head underground visiting City Hall, The Picasso, Block 37, Macy's and many other attractions on our walk. Along the way, we will venture out of the tunnels and view some of the wonderful skyscrapers connected to the Pedway system.
This tour is only available on weekdays and is not available on public holidays.
ITINERARY
- Start time is flexible so happy to tailor this to travelers needs.
- We will meet at the James R. Thompson Center at 100 W. Randolph St.
- After a brief introduction and overview of the Pedway system we will set out walking underground.
- Along the way, we will come up from underground and discuss a number of buildings and attractions along the way.
- At the half way point we can stop for coffee and pastries (lunch if needed) to break up the walk.
- Total tour time is approx 2. 5 hours and we will end up at Michigan Ave. bridge.
